Abstrak

Nutritional Status is the end result of a balance between food that enters the body and the body's need for these nutrients. Birth spacing and too many children will affect the nutritional status in the family. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between birth spacing and the number of children with the nutritional status of children under five in Gunung Tua Julu Health Center. Research design is analytic survey with Cross Sectional approach. Samples totaling 246 respondents, sampling using Systematic Random Sampling techniques. The results of the study used the Chi-Square test on Continuation Correction with significance level α = 0.05 or 95%. Statistical test for birth spacing with nutritional status is p value = 0,000 and the number of children with nutritional status is p value = 0.90. The conclusion is that there is a relationship between birth spacing and nutritional status and there is no relationship with the number of children with under five nutritional status at Gunung Tua Julu Health Center, Panyabungan District, Mandailing Natal District. Recommendations to improve health services, especially counseling to the community, improve the quality and number of health workers and work together with village officials in providing an understanding of norms and customs related to birth spacing and the number of children with under five nutritional status.
