Abstrak

married couples among the members of Mandaling Natal Resort Police, 267 wives (65%) use the contraceptives for women and 17 husbands (4.2%) use condom and 2 husbands (0.4%) have done a vasectomy. The factors of knowledge, belief, cultural tradition and wife’s support are estimated to have caused the low participation of Police officers in Family Planning program. The purpose of this explanatory study conducted from June to August 2016 was to analyze the influence of socio-culture (knowledge, belief, and cultural tradition) and wife’s support on the participation of Police Officers in Family Planning program in Mandaling Natal Resort Police. The population of this study was all of the 252 Police Officers with at least 2 (two) children and 72 of them were selected to be the samples for this study. The data for this study were obtained through questionnaire-based interviews. The data obtained were analyzed through multiple logistic regression tests. The result of this study showed that knowledge, belief, cultural tradition and wife’s support had influence on the participation of Police Officers in Family Planning program. Wife’s support was the most dominant factor influencing the participation of Police Officers in Family Planning program. The Commander of Mandaling Natal Resort Police is suggested to cooperate  with the nearest Police Hospital (RS Bhayangkara)in Tebing Tinggi to do primary health service activities especially in disseminating and it is necessary to involved the head of Bhayangkari is the success of health especially the reproductive health and support if wife to increase the participation of Police officer in family Planning Program
