ANALISIS PENGETAHUAN DAN SIKAP IBU RUMAH TANGGA TERHADAP PELAKSANAAN PAP’SMEAR UNTUK DETEKSI DINI KANKER SERVIKS DI PUSKESMAS PEMBANTU GUNUNG TUA KECAMATAN PANYABUNGAN KABUPATEN MANDAILING NATAL TAHUN 2018

Abstrak

To the present, cervical cancer is still the major cause of mortality in the developing countries. Pap’smear examination is one of the efforts of early detection of cervical cancer. In the working area of Puskesmas Pembantu Gunung Tua(Pembantu Health Center), the coverage of papsmear examination program was only 32.4% which is assumed to be related to the factors of knowledge, attitude, and need. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of the knowledge, attitude, and need on the implementation of Pap'smear for early detection of cervical cancer in the working area of Puskesmas Pembantu, Panyabungan conducted on 116 housewives as the sample. The data for this study were obtained through direct interview and the data obtained were statistically analyzed through multiple regression logistic tests at α = 5%. The result of this study showed that knowledge, attitude and needs had influence on Pap’smear examination as an attempt of cervical cancer early detection. Knowledge was the most dominant factor in influencing the implementation of Pap’smear examination in the working area of Puskesmas Gunung Tua with the value of  OR = 2.928 (95% CI : 1,293-6,629).The management of Puskesmas Petisah is suggested (1) to provide early education to the housewives that they know the importance of doing cervical cancer early detection through Pap’smear examination, (2) to do counseling to change the attitude, and (3) the health workers of the Puskesmas need to explain to the housewives visiting the Puskesmas about doing the early detection of cervical cancer in accordance with their need or through extension activity to the community members in general
