Abstract

Hepatitis B is an infectious disease caused by the hepatitis B virus that results in  acute inflammation of the liver that can developintoliver cancer. Indonesia is a country with 13 million Hepatitis B sufferers or ranks third in the world. The purpose of this analytical study with cross-sectional design was to analyze the influence of characteristic and family support in the mother with the baby of 0-3 month old on the administration of HB-0 immunization in the working area of Puskesmas (Community Health Center) Batang Pane II, Padang Bolak Subdistrict, Padang Lawas Utara District in 2014. The population and the samples of this study were all of the 59 mothers with the baby of 0-3 month old living in the working area of Puskesmas (Community Health Center) Batang Pane II, Padang Bolak Subdistrict, Padang Lawas Utara District. The data for this study were obtained through questionnaire distribution, analyzed through the stages of univariate, bivariate used chi-square test, exact fisher’s test and multivariate used multiple logistic regression at level of confidence 95%. The result of this study showed that the variables related to the administration of HB-0 immunization were age, number of children, knowledge, informational support, appraisal support, and instrumental support. The result of multivariate analysis by using logistic regression test showed that the influencing variables were occupation (p = 0.042), knowledge (p = 0.003), and appraisal support (p = 0.048). The most dominant variable on the administration of HB-0 immunization was knowledge. The management of Puskesmas Batang Pane II is suggested to increase the health promotion effort by improving the quality of health extension on Hepatitis-B
