FAKTOR-FAKTOR YANG MEMENGARUHI PEMASUNGAN TERHADAP PENDERITA SKIZOFRENIA DI KOTA PANYANBUNGAN SUMATERA UTARA TAHUN 2019

Abstract

Schizophrenia is a chronic psychiatric disorder in someone that makes him/her unable to judge reality well. One of the actions taken by the community to people for schizophrenia sufferers is restraint. Restraint is done by binding (caged, are chained his/her legs or put into a block of wood, etc), isolation or neglect. This practice has robbed his/her freedom and opportunity to get adequate treatment and at the same time neglecting his/her dignity as human being. The purpose of this survey study with case control design conducted from February to May 2014 was to analyze the factors influencing the incident of restraint to schizophrenia sufferers in the City of Binjai, Sumatra Utara Province. The population of this study was all of the families of schizophrenia sufferers in the City of Binjai. The samples of this study were the families of 10 families of deprived schizophrenia sufferers for the case group and 30 families of non-deprived schizophrenia sufferers for the control group having medical treatment at dr. RM Djoelham Binjai General Hospital. The data obtained through observation and interview with the respondents were analyzed using multiple logistic regression test, with level of significance 95%. The result of this study showed that the variables related to  the restraint done for  schizophrenia sufferers in the City of Binjai, Sumatera Province were education, knowledge, attitude, facility and access to service health and source of information. The variables which were not related were funding, the distance between home and health service, family’s support from family members and health workers. Attitude was the most dominant variable with Odd Ratio 69.209. The families are suggested to be active in searching for the information related to restraint and treatment for the schizophrenia sufferers. Health workers should provide information to the public
