Abstract

Spiritual activity is an activity undertaken to meet the spiritual needs in order to get closer to the almighty in order to find meaning and purpose in life. Depression is a psychiatric disorder in the natural form of feeling (mood), which is characterized by moodiness, lethargy, listlessness, feeling worthless, and hopeless. Lack of spiritual activity is often associated with depression. Elderly with low spiritual activity are more likely to experience symptoms of depression. This study aims to determine the relationship between spiritual activity and depression level on elderly at technical services unit elderly social services and early childhood region Malintang in 2019. This study used a descriptive correlation design with cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study were 63 respondents with purposive sampling method. From the results of the study conclude that most of the elderly have a good spiritual activity was 25 respondents (39.7%), and the majority of elderly people experiencing mild depression was 35 respondents (55.6%). Based on the test results Kendall tau b was concluded that there was a significant correlation between spiritual activity with level of depression in the elderly in UPT. Elderly Social Services and Early Childhood Regional Malintang-2019 with a p-value of 0.008 < α (0.05)
