Abstract

Javanese turmeric (Curcuma xanthorrhiza) and soybean (Glycine max L. Merill) are natural ingredients that can be used to treat face skin. The aim of this study was to formulate extracts of Javanese turmeric and soybean in the form of skin lightening cream preparations.. In this experiment, four cream formulations were made containing a combination of javanese tumeric extract with concentrations of 1%, 3%, 5% and 10% and soybean extract with concentrations of 5% and 15%. Accelerated cream formulations stability test for 1 month was tested by observing the results of its storage at low temperatures, room temperature and high temperature which included organoleptic observation, pH and homogeneity where each formula showed physical stability for 4 weeks, pH average 4.5-5.0, and no change in cream color. The irritation test was tested by using the acute dermal irritation method using rabbits and was declared safe and not irritating. The effectiveness test was measured by applying a combination cream to the respondents and measuring the brightness of the skin using a Dermalab examination measured after using the cream. The combination cream with a variation of 10% javanese tumeric concentration and 15% soybean concentration was the highest L* score in lightening the skin.
